Though the tunes here have an undeniably sunny feel, evocative of the seasons they represent, there is also an introspective, bittersweet quality to the music. Foreman is a talented songwriter and posses a rootsy chamber-pop quality more akin to Sufjan Stevens than the more bombastic arena-ready style of Switchfoot. Foreman defines himself as a Christian, but as with his songwriting in Switchfoot, the messages here have a universal appeal, despite their more personal scope.
