About this product

Product Information

In this film that epitomizes the American love for baseball, Ray Kinsella, a struggling Iowa farmer (Kevin Costner), obeys a mysterious voice in his cornfield that tells him to replace part of his crop with a baseball diamond, resulting in the magical meeting of baseball heroes from the past, including Shoeless Joe Jackson, and the seven other Chicago White Sox players who were suspended for purposefully losing the 1919 World Series. Even after building the diamond, Ray continues to hear voices, and seeks the help of a hermit-like author in sorting out the mystery, which allows the confrontation of ghosts of other sorts.

Great communication from seller. Item was quite late due to a hiccup, but ended up arriving as described after a short conversation. Overall, I would recommend buying from this seller for the great customer service.

  • Fields of Dreams

I can't help but LOVE this movie. Just like Costner's character, Ray Kinsella, I was born in 1952. A South Side Chicagoan, I was born a White Sox fan, and was disappointed to discover the BLACK spot in their history. Luckily, I didn't have the kind of issues with MY Dad that Ray Kinsella had with his. Mine taught me to catch, took me to my first major league base, hockey and football games and was a great example for me. For me, there isn't a bad performance in this film. Costner and Amy Madigan (A hoot at the PTA meeting!) are excellent. Doc "Moonlight" Graham a great role for Burt Lancaster's next-to-last big screen performance. James Earl Jones is outstanding (big surprise, eh?) as Terrence Mann as is Ray Liotta as "Shoeless' Joe Jackson. They both deliver moving monologues and if ...

  • Wonderful family movie that endures through the ages.

This is simply a wonderful movie that endures the passage of time. While it is a baseball field, it is not a baseball movie. It is a family movie that helps people see the wonders of what a family can do when they pull together. Obvious fiction involved, one must see through the story and look at the specifics. It does not have cell phones, tablets, or laptop computers. There are no video games in this movie. It shows the simplicities of life and how issues and struggles that most all families face can bring a the family together as a unit rather than destroy it as so often takes place. I highly recommend this movie.

  • A Fine Baseball Movie

This is a provocative, entertaining movie. A good example of Kevin Costners developing, acting skills (at the time). I loved seeing James Earl Jones, Ray Liotta and Burt Lancaster whos character hits one out of the park.
