Sony's 989 Sports returns to the diamond to pitch the "2004" installment of its Major League Baseball series, available for both PS2 and the hardy, original PlayStation. This year's game brings home a variety of modes, offering Exhibition, Season, Franchise, and Career play, as well as Spring Training. Authentic teams and rosters are based on the most recent (2003) season. Games can be played in re-creations of any of the 30 active MLB parks, each with city-specific details such as weather effects, fireworks, and jumbotrons. Player animations were built from consultations with, and motion-captures of, notable stars of the sport, including Roger Clemens, Trevor Hoffman, Tim Hudson, Tony Gwynn, and Mo Vaughn.

I use a shipping rate for Canada which is the same price no matter which game you buy. The Nintendo DS game that you bought happens to be extremely light.For 95%+ of the games, the shipping price makes sense.However, some games are heavier and some games are lighter than the average - so there is an aspect of fluctuation that I account for. But you're right about the total price, that's what matters, I also currently have "Best Offer" on - so you can always make an offer to get a better price.

This is one of my favorite baseball games. The thing I like most about it is the pitching system. You aim the ball cursor in one spot and depending on the type of pitch you select it will land in another. For example, the slider from a righty will land well right of where you set the cursor. It's a challenging game as well. I still haven't been able to pitch a perfect game on it and I like it, though I've come close. This prevents the game from seeming too easy. One shortcoming of this game is the batting controls. To influence a fly/ground ball you must push up or down respectively on the right analogue stick. This can make playing the game a little awkward. Despite these controls, hitting is all about timing. Whether or not you try to hit a fly or ground ball, you can send some pitches ... The runner does not respond quickly enough, if at all. So you have to be careful not to get picked-off or caught stealing because there is very little room for error. The created-player feature is nice though you can't edit the character after he's been created. All-in-all the game is great and I recommend it.

My son loves the game, I played with him once and for a 2005 game I thought it was pretty good, if you have a kid about the age of 8-13 and can get the game for almost no cost I'd have to say its a great deal.
