Activision's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series gears up for another run in Tony Hawk's Underground, a 3D skateboarding title offering the most radical departure from previous installments in the franchise to date. More freedom and greater customization features are at the top of the list in improvements, but the biggest change is the absence of professional skaters. Instead of mastering the moves of Tony Hawk or another athlete, players must guide a no-name skater looking for a break on the tough streets of New Jersey. Gone is the Career mode from previous titles and in its place is a Story mode that chronicles an individual's rise from obscurity to become "Skater of the Year." <br><br>For the first time in the series, players can actually explore their environment without the skateboard, accessing new areas by walking up a flight of stairs, grabbing and lifting themselves onto rooftops, or shimmying across ledges. Missions have expanded as well, with players able to steal a car to complete objectives and perform other tasks to help gain notoriety and hopefully land a sponsorship deal. While this GameCube version lacks the online capabilities of its PlayStation 2 cousin, players can still create a likeness of themselves using a variety of preset facial features. Customization options have also expanded to the point where players can create their own tricks, parks, skateboards, and mission goals and save them all to memory card.

I use a shipping rate for Canada which is the same price no matter which game you buy. The Nintendo DS game that you bought happens to be extremely light.For 95%+ of the games, the shipping price makes sense.However, some games are heavier and some games are lighter than the average - so there is an aspect of fluctuation that I account for. But you're right about the total price, that's what matters, I also currently have "Best Offer" on - so you can always make an offer to get a better price.

    Still fun, and funny

    I had this game back in the day on PS2, so this version takes a little getting used to, obviously the graphics don't hold up super well today, but it plays just as I remember (so that's good). This is one of the easier games in the franchise, so take that for what it is, but it is good to be reunited again.

    They finally give you what you want, FREEDOM

    Tony Hawk's Underground was not just another fun game from Tony Hawk; it was a break from time limits, a break from the boring "score X points", a break from, well, your skateboard. This game finally let you get off is and throw it to the ground, getting rid of those annoying times when you have to line up for a ramp while holding back, then accidentally letting go to mess you all up. It also introduced unlockable old-school levels from the classics. It added the coolest Tony Hawk multiplier game / mode to date, fireball. up + B sends a fireball shooting towards your opponent, while down + B sends one flying behind you. This review is shorter than my others, just because I covered what separated this Tony Hawk game from the others, but deep down it still has all the cool tricks, ...

    Great addition to the series, overall a don't miss for skating fans. 8/10

    From Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 to Tony Hawk Underground a huge improvement was implemented, making THUG to be a great addition to the series. The ability to dismount from the skateboard was added, allowing for grappling, spray painting, new tricks, and various other in game abilities. The soundtrack is a fair mix of Hip-Hop, Rap, Punk, and Ska genres. A fair amount of levels, a story mode, Multi-Player split screen, and a 'good' character customization: leaves THUG at an 8/10 for the Nintendo Gamecube.
