    Great pen but EF takes getting used to

    I took it to test Pilot EF nib and decided I do not like it: it's dry, scratchy, needs very smooth paper to work and makes all my saturated Diamine inks look like pale lines. The pen itself is superb and can take the con-70 converter. I found out that I do not fancy an EF nib, get this one in F or M and you will not be disappointed. I will try to tune this nib wetter and if that fails, I'll just replace the nib with one of my Metropolitans. If you buy this with EF nib be sure to get an extra lubricated Pilot ink as well.

    Pilot=Pilot (?)

    Pilot pens are a class of their own. In Europe we would say: Pelikan. Even a low-priced pelikan is a decent pen which will not easily let you down, just as the Pilot pens do. Pilot nibs are famous for their quality, so I must have struck a Monday nib when I bought my Kakuno EF, which tended to be very scratchy. I replaced the nib with a Bock EF, and: lo and behold! Pumpkin magic! Please note: It is NEVER fair to compare a student pen with the real thing ( or a 2CV with a Volvo 80.)

  • Fun demonstrator pen

    I like this pen a lot. I had the other colors and was glad to see this one. I have been using it since I got it and it performs very well. Excellent pen.

  • Very good control

    Fountain pen with excellent and extremely precise control. Much better in my opinion than some other brands.

  • Kakuno transparent EF nib

    Demonstrator pen maybe is more suitable for older consumer. Pen performs well from the start, a credit to Pilot's consistently excellent quality. The EF nib writes very fine, typical of Pilot/Japanese nibs. Thank you
