I bought one of these lenses last year and it contained fungus. Nevertheless, I was amazed how sharp the lens was even with the fungus. The contrast was degraded very slightly by the fungus. The lens is well built and made from metal. I did testing at 205 mm on a test target I placed 500 meters away, and another test target at 25 m away at several focal lengths. I was very impressed! Note that I bought four Vivitar Kiron 85 - 205 f3.8 lenses and two had bad fungus. I suspect that these Kiron-made lenses are prone to fungus so I suggest quizzing the seller of such lenses in detail to ensure that there is no fungus or haze. I recently bought a second Vivitar Kiron 75 - 205 f3.8 and the matched 2x teleconverter, and will be testing it this spring. My bottom line is that this old Vivitar Kiron is well built and very sharp from the one copy I've evaluated. Without the fungus, I might rate it as excellent. drj3253Read full review
Great fd lens for the money. I purchase the lens to use on a T3i for video only. Since then I have built my lens collection to over 5 FD prime lens. I have several lens that cost 10x what I paid for this lens and you cannot tell the difference. If you have a EOS camera like the T3i, 7D, 5D and you are shooting video you wont be disappointed purchasing this lens. You will have to use a adapter, but it is well worth it.
Good lens, and well packed. I’m looking forward to learning how to shoot 35mm photos again.
