  • Dunning's novel is a great read! I enjoyed it immensely!

    Having discovered John Dunning's writings thru his 'Cliff Janeway' novels, I was pleasently surprised to find that I really enjoyed this novel that was written very early in his writing career. I didn't know a thing about the history of the city of Denver and John Dunning shows us what life was like back at the turn of the century and the early 1900's. I liked the characters that he brought to life. I liked finding out how the KKK (which I despise) infiltrated the city's police force and other types of government offices, going all the way up to the Governor's Office. As told by Dunning, it was not a very happy time in Denver's past. Lots of turmoil and strife. One can tell that this was an early novel as there are a few minor things involving characters that Dunning probably would have ...
