Little worried by the HEAVY DAMAGED BOX - but as promised everything had been checked as working. So my son now has an excellent new camera and I got to pay slightly less! Image and video quality is superb with onboard stabalisation meaning there is no need for a tripod unless the light levels are really poor. Camera has a good weight to it but is well balanced with a great screen for shooting where access to the viewfinder proves difficult.

The GX80 is the best Panasonic micro four thirds camera so far. The shutter is so much smoother and quieter than the GX7, and there is a big improvement in low light image quality. But, it still lags behind any of the Olympus micro four thirds cameras for image quality, and if you have used Olympus, you could never get used to the inferior EVF of the GX80. It's also a lot heavier than thelikes of the Olympus E-M10. The one feature where Panasonic beat Olympus is the lens. The 12-32mm is a fantastic little lens. The image quality isn't far behind the Olympus 12-40mm pro.

Amazingly fast focus, super sharp images. Coming from the Olympys E-P5, I couldn't get my head around the menu system, & went back to the trusty E-P5. By doing so I've probably missed out some fancy features. However, that was must me and the fact I was already familiar with the Olympus menus and features. The Lumix GX80 is technical wonder and currently top of the Micro 4/3rds compact tree. I'm guessing the 20MP Olympus Pen is good - but it is a fashion statement & costs over twice as much. If you are already an E-P5 owner, you should probably save your money unless you are really keen to get your hands on all the fancy techno features like 4k video and focus stacking. Check out David Thorpe's Youtube videos for a much better idea than I can give here. Hope this helps.

Video image quality is excellent, but I've had to return this camera (this being the second one). Both had the same problem of black dots on the image. Sorry to say I won't be getting another one of these. Pity as would've been a great camera if not for it's failings.

This camera is small but robust with so many features that you get lost. I am at the start and still searching into the features. In auto mode picture quality is amazing even at low light conditions. Video is also excellent at 4K. Although I do not have something to compare, when shifting the picture at high speed I would expect a smoother transition but still for 4K it is excellent. The sound is medium however. The double IS is doing a great job. I believe this the best value for money mirrorless camera at this point of time .
