  • A remarkable read, beyond what I thought MI5 would allow in print.

Would embassies spy on each other? Of course! But would they ever explain exactly when and how they did it? Peter Wright reveals way more than that, and somehow this book made it to print. For decades the workings of MI5 have been severely censored. These are the words of an actual operator and a scientist who understands electronics and physics sufficiently to design novel surveillance equipment and put it in service. He is privy to MI5 plots and and a party to their execution. He sat in on Philby's interrogation. Of all the spy literature from WWII to the cold war, this is the most candid I have run across. As far as I know, it is no longer in print. I'll bet MI5 would prefer that it be long forgotten.
