Airport Extreme is easy set up with strong performance

Have used these for years around our farm network, we have 7 routers around the buildings, and they are so much stronger than other brands which fall over for no apparent reason. Apple have stopped making the new ones and this is great value.

  • Better than MESH if your house is large or has thick walls

Apple AirPort is still the best WiFi system if you want to HARDWIRE your nodes. Most MESH systems DO NOT support Ethernet connections between nodes. Why would you want to wire WiFi nodes, you ask. Well, if you ask, you probably don't need to, but the reason is that MESH systems often do not work in very large properties or ones with very thick walls - like mine. I HAVE to wire my nodes, and each one only covers a single or two rooms. Only an AirPort network in "roaming" configuration will do this and create a single network ID.

  • Good features, reliable router

I find this router model is very good for my needs. It does need a Mac to configure it via the AirPort Utility. Lots of good features and reliable router.
