If I was rating this product with price consciousness in mind, I would have given it five stars. ModTone makes some good value pedals. That being said, they generally sound great. This delay is no different. It has a very warm echo you only get from the simpler old timey analog circuits. It does have some sort of boost to mitigate the usual volume drop you get in delays, which is a nice touch. And it's true bypass, which is definitely an upgrade from typical "vintage" pedals. It has three knobs, "Time," "Repeat," and "Mix." They work just like every other delay. The time controls the length of delay, the repeat controls how many times you get the echo in the amount of time you have selected. Mix is just that. How much dry tone you leave in the bypass circuit. Keep in mind that this is an old timey design. If you're looking for a looper or a long drawn out crystal clear echo, look for a digital delay. This will color your tone (think The Edge, c. Joshua Tree) more than a Digitech DigiDelay, for instance. Analog delays are their own animal, and probably not what you need for a lot of newer prog metal sounds. I have generally been happy with ModTone pedals. They're not very fancy. Every pedal they make comes in the same sturdy, but boring steel chassis. The layout is almost identical from pedal to pedal. They don't even bother with a door to access the battery, just the four screws holding the back plate on. That's how simple they left it. They also have a tendency to pick up AC hum in some situations. Really, though, this thing is heavy duty and a great value addition. Grab one.Read full review
I love the sound of an analog delay and this one has it. The decay of each repeat makes it sound realistic and not processed. I also like the small size and the rugged construction. I don't know about dependability as it is fairly new but Mod Tone has a good reputation. Siggy
Great analog tones! Exellent for short, slapback echoes, and long, varm delays! I have 2 of these in my pedalboard, one set for, you guessed it: Short, slapback echoes, and one for long varm delays! Replaced my Boss DD-3, which is also a great delay pedal.
Este review se refiere al mini delay. Lo compré debido al pequeño tamaño que ocupa en mi pedalboard. Me gusta: excelente sonido "análogo" considerando calidad/precio. No me gusta: produce una baja (drop) en volumen al activarlo, no tiene un trimpot interno para ajustar el volumen. Conclusión: No me sirve debido a la pérdida de volumen al activarlo.
Just what I wanted - a subtle delay to fatten my tone.
