  • Anita O'Day In A Mellow Tone Wonderful CD At A Reasonable Price

The tracks on this CD really shine and demonstrate why she is one of the best female jazz stylists ever at age 70, sounding like she did at the top of her career, sung in a mellow tone, wrapping her honey voice around every word, soft, at times sultry and sassy, beautiful scatting, proving you don't have to belt a song to sell it, seldom sung A Sleepin' Bee, tempo change scat I Cried For You, another nice version of No Moon At All, great blues on a song she wrote Anita's Blues, and a sultry More Than You Know. Listening to O'Day is like attending a master class on jazz. This is how it's done. Six talented musicians accompany her with great solo work. A nice CD to listen to during a quiet dinner by candlelight. Recommended.
