Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts challenges players to design and drive vehicles that allow the bear and backpacked bird heroes to complete tasks and accomplish goals. Winning a race, reaching a remote location, jumping a certain distance of off a ramp -- each 3D platform-puzzle challenge is specific, but players can set out to meet it in any way they choose. The only limitations are imagination and parts. Players can supply their own imagination, but new parts are found hidden throughout the game world, especially the game's Showdown Town hub area, which is explored in more traditional, on-foot 3D platform gameplay.<br><br>The third Banjo-Kazooie game, first on an Xbox console, Nuts & Bolts' build-it-yourself focus is a departure from the play style of the N64 hits, but many fan-familiar characters and conventions make appearances. As the story goes, A powerful entity known as Lord of Games has grown sick of the bickering between Banjo and Gruntilda, and has devised a contest to decide the rightful owner of Spiral Mountain. Each of this contest's challenges takes place in a different level, and new levels are unlocked with collectible "jiggie" puzzle pieces -- won or uncovered throughout the adventure. Multiplayer options, both cooperative and competitive, are supported over Xbox Live, and connected players can share their favorite vehicle blueprints.

Rare drags Banjo and Kazooie both through the mud.
This game is a great game in general, well done, and beautiful at that. Running off of the Viva Pinata graphics engine, it makes for a very visually appealing game, though there are parts such as the loading screens, that remind you a lot of Viva Pinata. Basically, Banjo and Kazooie both lose all the moves that made them awesome in the past games, the gameplay is completely different, and after beating it 100% I was left with a big "huh?". I've been waiting for eight years since Banjo-Tooie's release and they have completely destroyed the series with this one. While they did leave it open at the end for a sequel, I hope to god it isn't vehicle based. The vehicles in the game handled poorly no matter how you constructed them, I found myself screaming and yelling in anger out of sheer ... This game is a great game in general, well done, and beautiful at that. There are over 100 tasks to accomplish, all of which are timed and feel more like mini-games than something legitimately important to the storyline, each one has 1. A note prize (easy time) 2. Jigsaw prize (medium time) or 3. T.T. trophy, which basically 4 T.T.'s= 1 Jiggy. Every single task is vehicle based, and almost every single one if you want to get the T.T. trophy, you're going to have to build a vehicle for it, that's 100+ vehicle designs, have fun. All in all the general gameplay is average, and if you aren't an obsessive completest you'll probably find it fun, if you are, steer clear, I warn you, you will gain quite a few ulcers. If you're a fan of the series you probably know all about stop n' swop being re-instated over an xbox live connection to the Arcade Banjo-Kazooie, well, prepare for another letdown because all the eggs and the key unlock are stupid little crates that have some pretty vehicle decorations in them, nothing valuable or in any way useful. In fact, if you use them, they WILL slow you down. Bottom line: If you're a fan of the series, I'm sorry, but I know you'll buy this anyways and be just as disappointed. If you're not, it's alright, in fact, I might even call it good, for $40, it's not a bad deal, but I'm sure you could find a more in-depth, less repetitive game elsewhere. Oh, and as a P.S. This game was in my system when my 360 broke, and it wasn't the typical red ring error, this disk reads quite often and puts a stress on your dvd drive. BE CAREFUL.

I mean, you can get out of your vehicle, but normally when you do this, it is only to get something into you vehicle. If you loved previous Banjo Kazooies, dont assume that youll enjoy this one, it is nothing like the previous. That being said, its still enjoyable. Theyll enjoy the vehicle creation aspect, but wont be wanting to work through the game to get the parts to actually make something cool. I can see kids liking it for a brief moment, and then getting really sick of it.

I bought BK:N&B because I was a huge fan of the series. I was only a kid when the original came out, and I was looking to relive the magic. The sequel certainly maintains the magic, and adds some new elements in along the way. The game still has its cute quirks and fun stuff to do, and includes hundreds of challenges across dozens of worlds. The challenges do get a bit tedious, and like the original, can become somewhat frustrating. The concept of vehicles completely change the way Banjo and Kazooie move around the various worlds and handle challenges. If you're looking for a challenging game that gets fun and silly at times, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is for you.I bought BK:N&B because I was a huge fan of the series. Great new game but goofy storyline
Playing the previous two banjo games, I was expecting one that was just as easy to get into and play into his adventure. I was disappointed to have to learn a bunch of new aspects of the nuts & bolts part of the game, and doesn't seem to have as much of an adventure. i understand that this is the point of the game, to include the building of machinery and using it, which is very fun of course, but it's not a typical banjo kazooie game, and isn't what i was expecting. The newest version of Banjo Kazooie (subtitled Nuts and Bolts) has the gamer building all sorts of contraptions to transport you through the lands where you will of course be collecting music notes and puzzle pieces (as in the old games). Long gone are the days when you would be able to use moves from the Bear and the Bird to squash your enemy's. Now you must find ways to drive, fly, and swim across uncharted territory and find a way to defeat the horrible witch (and annoying rhyme queen) gruntilda. Like old Banjo games, the main goal is to collect as many puzzle pieces. Getting them can be a little frustrating as always but the building of automotive means of transportation is the new twist. I personally find it a little boring and annoying. Unlike the older games, you have to do ... I have to applaud Rare for making a change attempting new things, but wonder if we will ever get to see the duo make a comeback on foot. For the price of this game (buying on ebay used presumably) you cant complain. It will provide hours of fun, especially for younger gamers (and those looking for that old N64 retro feel). Just dont expect any ground breaking excitement.
