i got a copy of the original game in a trade for super mario world, back in 8th grade. i played the hell out of it. it was my favorite game and for the most part still is. i still have that copy somewhere... i played the PlayStation version just for the extra features, but felt the lack of the original intro and slight resolution difference made it less enjoyable, and felt the cutscenes were unnecessary. it was still fun and some of the new stuff was worth the playthrough. i felt like owning it for my 3ds would be a great way to make my favorite rpg portable and i was curious of the new features for it so i bought a copy and have yet to get very far but its definitely a great way to take it on the go. i had tried to run an emulator on my psp to play it before that got stolen half a decade or so ago but it never ran very smooth. part of the experience just isnt the same when things are choppy or the music gets screwed up. the music is kind of a big part of this game. this was one of the most revolutionary games of its time. there can be no game quite as satisfying to play for many reasons. it would take a short novel's worth of talk to help you understand my love for this game in any form. instead let me just say if you have yet to play it, you need to do so. i recommend the snes version to anyone who can get it and has a working system but if you can't or you'd rather play on the go, get the ds version and prepare yourself for a wild ride through time and space. this is the rpg that broke the mould for me and many others, and any jrpg fan owes it to themselves to try this one and have an experience they will never forget or recreateRead full review

It's no surprise that a game of this scale would go on to become a hit classic the way it did. Had many memorable people working on it such as Nobou Uematsu(probably best known for his amazing work on the FF franchise), Akira Toiyama(brain behind Dragon Ball and lead artist for Dragon Quest), and Yoshinori Kitase(directed the creation of FFVII and FFX). Square Enix was a JRPG titan than and still is now. This game is a prime example of that. It has an awesome mix of colourful characters, contrasting time periods, masterful music and art, and a lot of time to be invested.

Chrono Trigger DS is even better than the original. It retains the SNES game plus the enhancements from the PlayStation release. The only complaint is the translation. This is a more accurate translation, but it lacks that Ted Woosly charm. Great game, whether it's your first encounter with Chrono, or you want to travel back in time to the pinnacle of RPGs.

I'd love to write something amazing, something that keeps your eyes focused on the text, but i can't, i'm no writer. Chrono Trigger was never released in Europe, having the chance to play it today on real Hardware (no Emulator, no Reproduction) was a must. If you were into SNES JRPG's, then i'm sure you'll be happy playing this Game. Look for Reviews in the WWW if you're still interested yet not intrigued by my blatantly simple review.

The Nintendo DS port is a definitive Remastered game that features all the bonus in-game materials from the Playstation one port with a slight graphic enhancement. Now that I have both the PS one version and the Nintendo DS version, the DS is a great buy.
