Der Deutsche Telekom Speedport W 724V ist ADSL,VDSL2-Modem und Router in einem. Der Speedport unterstützt die VoIP und das Anmelden von Basis-Stationen von DECT Telefonen. Der Router arbeitet in Frequenzbereichen von 2,4 GHz und 5,0 GHz. Das Gerät wurde für die Nutzung von Entertain, Highspeed-Internet und IP-basierte Telefonie in HD Voice. Bis zu vier PCs lassen mittels Kabel über 1 GB LAN-Anschluss mit dem Router verbinden. Durch die integrierte Firewall und die WEP,WPA,WPA 2 Verschlüsselung ist das Netzwerk vor unerwünschten Eindringlingen gut geschützt.
