My touring bike has fallen over three time on the derailleur side, wasn't shifting well in certain gears. New chain, rings, and cassette... replaced the rear derailleur in the upgrade... what was wrong, it looked ok...., OK, took off the rear fender, rack, dropped the chain, cleaned up the hanger and installed the Park DAG 2.2 hanger adjustment gauge. the Hanger was off about 12^ in vertical plane, about 6^ in the horz plane. With the bike in my park stand, and a friend supporting the bike, I applied some force in the two planes, a little at a time. My alignment seems to be spot on...., and guess what, no more shifting problems.... Yes, it was worth it.

The derailleur tool works well but is a little hard to use. You have to move the offset rod up and down when checking the hanger. It does straighten the hanger very easily so do a little at a time. Next time I would look at some of the other options which cost a little more.

This is a high quality tool that works perfectly. It is easy to use and gets you back on the trail. I had two bikes that were shifting badly after minor wrecks. A Trek marlin 7 and a Rocky Mountain instinct 930. Within a half hour of receiving the tool i had both bikes working like new.

Park Tools always perform as advertised and this derailleur hanger tool is no exception. It is easy to use, of excellent quality, and instinctive to use for a relatively experienced home mechanic.

The sliding indicator gauge make aligning across the lateral cross section very easy. Simply touch the wheel with the sliding indicator, then rotate the tire, slide the indicator out of the way of the wheel, rotate the tool to check true on the other side at the same point on the wheel. If the hanger is out of alignment, the tool has a long lever, which makes adjusting the hanger very easy.

The Park derailleur alignment tool (DAG) is a niche tool, but for MTB, you ARE going to tweak or bend your rear derailleur at some point and this is the only type of tool to fix the issue. It pays for itself in 1-3 uses.

This is a quality tool that does just one job, but does it well. I was amazed how out of alignment my mountain bike's derailleur hanger was until I checked it with this tool. After correcting the alignment, the annoyingly slow shifts and "clacking" noises that occur in certain gears are gone. My only gripe is that there is a certain amount of play in the head unit that screws into the derailleur hanger. The play is amplified at the end of the arm where measurements are made. Even so, the alignment was so improved with the tool, I don't think the amount of play present has any significant affect on the results.

A solid and accurate piece of equipment used to keep the derailleur hanger aligned, which makes shifting efficient. It has the awesome Park Tool quality. It's worth the money and will allow you to easily straighten out any derailleur which will keep your bike out of the shop longer.

Works just the way it should and seems to be of very high quality. My recommendation is that the small bolt at the end of the bar should be explained in more detail, because if it is used properly any play in the tool can be eliminated. Some reviews give this tool a bad review due to play in the bar, which is easily taken care of with this small bolt.
