  • Just what you'd expect....

This thing won't break any internet speed records and I doubt it would be very good for graphics-heavy web-pages, but for a simple and easily portable way to check your email on-the-go, this works great! The hand-writing recognition ability of the DS makes inputting data easy and navigating on the Opera Suite is so intuitive that you could get by easily without even reading the manual. For those times when you don't want to lug around your laptop or pay to use a public terminal, this thing is awesome! It does have it's limitations, but they are easy to overlook when you consider that spending a little bit of money makes your DS that much more useful! And, if you have an internet-hog in your home, this is a good and cheap way to overcome that problem!

  • I don't quite know what to say.

I have mixed feelings about this product. I have a laptop at home with wireless connection with no problems. The Ds browser picks up the wireless signal, but I usually get a "disconnected" message before the page finishes loading. So everytime I go on a new page or do anything, it has to search for the signal again, only to lose it within seconds. That's even with me inches away from my wireless router. However, the pages that do load look pretty good with nice graphics. The graphics 97% of the time dont load for me. I was able to check my emails and go on a few forums and post there. I however could not sign on to ebay. It just will not allow me no matter what. You also can not see videos or hear any sound. I already knew that before I bought it. For parents concerned abut security, you ...

  • A good idea for the Nintendo DS series, but falls short of the mark.

When I received the Nintendo DS Browser for the Nintendo DS Lite, I was rather skeptical about a browser being able to run on Nintendo's more budget oriented DS portable. After unpacking the browser which be warned takes up BOTH your Nintendo DS Lite slots, (cartridge and gameboy advance port) this is due to the fact the Nintendo DS Lite does not have the memory necessary to facilitate a browser. Setup is rather easy and straightforward on the Nintendo DS Lite, but since this browser was issued in 2007, it does not support the more current WPA-PSK security protocols, it only supports the 10 key enabled WEP protocol, so if your router does not support WEP, then you might as well pack it in at this point. That alone is rather discouraging considering any good browser should have the ...

  • Not bad...

Good basic browser. Run by Opera. Good for viewing simple pages. Gmail works perfect! Some pages that did not work: Youtube, Grooveshark, Google voice. The nintendo website says: "Important Notes on compatibility The Nintendo DS Browser supports http and https. It is not compatible with other types of protocols, such as ftp, mailto, etc. The Nintendo DS Browser supports Javascript, as well as many image types such as GIF, PNG, JPEG, BMP, and ICO. The Nintendo DS Browser does not support Flash, animations, sound, video, PDFs, or any other files or programs that require a separate plug in, such as Java. All types of video playback, such as QuickTime (.avi) and Windows Media Video (.wmv) are not compatible with the Nintendo DS Browser and will not play." So good if you want to just google ...

  • Has potential, but limited

People that buy this product should know its limitations before purchase. I think everyone going into this knows the screen is small, there will be no sound or video play, websites with lots of images will be slow to view if not impossible, download times and refresh rates are much slower than traditional computers because of the processor, free "hotspots" are not as common as some people think. Ok, now that that is out of the way, let's review the product. It does what it says it will do!! It's a limited browser that allows you to access the web for certain tasks when other, more robust, access options aren't available. For $30 that's a reasonable web access alternative. As more "hotspots" become available, this product makes sense. The sheer number of DS Lites out there combined ...
