    Still accurate after 30 years

    The Solartron 7150 Plus - A DMM from the late 80s - was very well designed and built. I bought one in 2004 and this one off eBay a few weeks ago. There is no record of any calibrations during their lives. After warming up for several hours and connected in parallel to an inexpensive AD584 source claimed to provide 10.00290V, the DMMS agreed showing a value about 30PPM different to the AD584. The AD584 might not be provided it's nominal output. Whether both meters are correct or have aged similarly, this is a great testament to their designer. The recently bought DMM had not had it's backlight LEDs replaced when the photo was taken.
