It Tells A Story As It Follows Through. Like Example: When Jubei Was Poisoned By The Old Monk And The Only Way To Cure It Is To Make Love To A Poison-Spreading Female Ninja Named Kagero (Giggety). Plus The Last Scene When He Faces Off With Gemma (BANG YOUR HEAD!) Sending Him To His Golden Hell. The Setting Is Quite Unique With A Japanese Feudal Touch Into That You Don't See In Today's Anime Very Often. Why? The Characters Is, Of Course, Fondly Memorable. Jubei Is One Of Those Characters That Should Be On The Bad-@$$ List Next To Goku, Spike Spiegel From Cowboy Bebop, John "Sleepy" Estes (Sh#thouse) From Mad Bull 34, Cobra From Duh, Space Adventure Cobra & Attack On Titan's Captain Levi. The Old Monk Like, Wow, That Guy Is Insane. But It Actually Fits Him Pretty Well. Forcing Jubei To Stay Alive Before The Poison Pulls Him To His Death Bed. Let's Not Forget Kagero. Nice Body, Awesome Personality, Has Better Ninja Techniques (Better Than Naruto. *Coughs SAKURA Coughs*), And Overall, That She Would Be Perfect On Everybody's Waifu List (Even On A Body Pillow). The Animation Is Surprisingly Gorgeous. The Visual Effects Is Spot On, Perfect Frame Rate, The Fights Are Well Done, Like I Don't Know What To Say Else. Studio Madhouse Can Do No Wrong At All. The Dub Has 90s Written All Over It, And That's Why I Love It When It Come Old Anime That's Brought Over To The States During That Time. It's Like Music To My Ears. Overall, If You Want To See A Good Anime Movie About Ninjas, I Suggest That You, How Do I Put It, SEE THIS MOVIE! Either On DVD, VHS, Whatever. It's One Of The Best Anime Releases That MANGA Entertainment Has Ever Put Out Here Next To Ghost In The Shell, Dead Leaves, Read Or Die, New Dominion Tank Police, Perfect Blue, Blood: The Last Vampire (That Not Live-Action) Just Name To Name A Couple. Oh, And The Crack-Out Mad Bull 34 (But That's Just Me).Read full review

This is one of the first major films to hit it big from MANGA. It's based on a series of novels in Japan and is an excellent example of Japanese animation crossing over to America. Rated as one of the greatest animation films of all time, this film is a must own for anyone who enjoys beautiful artwork and japanese folk lore. It would go on to lead the way for other films like Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Metropolis, Vampire Hunter D, etc... It is the follow up film from the Director who did Wicked City, another fantastic animation piece. Please, if you like animated films, even the kid ones, and your above the age of 16, I strongly advise you to check out this amazing feature. It's nostalgic and beautiful, a story of a ninja just traveling the land, seeking nothing more than the road. It's a perfect example of great Japanese storytelling. Also be sure to check out Ninja Scroll The Series, as it is known in the US, it is three different dvd's of episodes that continue on after the film. ENJOY AND HAPPY BIDDING.Read full review
Ninja Scroll is truly one of the cornerstones of any Anime efficianado's collection. One of the greatest Japanese Animated Movies of it's time and it stands up to the test of time as well. Even nearly two dacades after its release, it seems as fresh as many of the titles released today. You can see the influence the title has had on the genre as every scene seems to epitomize the stylistic animation and story telling that are as much a part of Anime as the archtypical wandering swordsman bearing his sword on his shoulder. Along with Akira and Vampire Hunter D this title represents the pinnacle of Anime not only from it's time, but of all time.
Great characters, each one could easily have a prequel or origin story made. I was getting tired of the redundant storylines in the early ‘90’s, and Ninja Scroll stood out from the rest. ~30 years later, I replaced my VHS copy with a DVD. For mature audiences only, a classic.

I watched this anime along time ago when I was younger, and it freaked me out.So when I found the same (box cover) one I brought it.It was such a great price and it had all the inserts in it as well, which sometime is hard to find in a opened dvd.I watched it again and was like why was I freaked out, this is so cool.A+ anime with a great story and interesting characters.
