About this product

Product Information

Midway's Mortal Kombat franchise makes its DS debut as a translation of the arcade's Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. By default the top screen displays the classic one-on-one action, while the second screen shows the selected character's move list. Since the directional pad and face buttons are used to control the game rather than the touch screen, players can set each screen's display according to their preferences. Also included with the game is "Puzzle Kombat," a lighthearted puzzle title that originally appeared in 2004's Mortal Kombat: Deception. Yet the biggest news for DS owners is the inclusion of Wi-Fi support for both online fighting and puzzle battles against a friend. Local wireless brawls are available as well in both multi-card and single-card formats, with the latter reducing the playable character list to four: Scorpion, Reptile, Kitana, and Jade.

  • Best fighting for DS

This game is an emulation of the arcade port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 with the Puzzle Kombat game included, in case you get bored of fighting. The gameplay of UMK has small bugs but nothing really major to change the gameplay. A big bonus is that if you have a WiFi connection or USB WiFi you can play either game online. The ranking system is very fair and you can add friends, play someone at your same skill level or play someone at random from around the world. The game will have lag though if there is a poor connection. For the most part single player on UMK gets old but thanks to the WiFi you can play on the go. Puzzle Kombat is also fun to play either way. Overall this is a great game.

  • Great for Mortal Kombat lovers :)

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this game. It's just like the classic Mortal Kombat game itself. Of Coarse the graphics have been reduced, but it's just made it into a handheld form. The best part about the game is that they list all the special moves while your fighting on the different screen, so if you don't know how to pull off a fatality no worries they will show the button layout for you. I only bad side is that some charaters are hard to beat, but that's no different from Mortal Kombat in the past.

  • Great classic game

Great classic game, plays well on DS and 3DS.

  • UMK(3) is ok. not good not bad

seeing as how this game is on the DS I didn't expect the graphics to blow my mind yet I was still somewhat dissapointed. The computer AI is simply the worst I have ever seen. of the 3 or 4 difficulties that you can choose from not one of them seems to be an "Easy" mode. The computer player will often stand still for sometimes ten seconds or/and then just dominate. The puzzle mode is somewhat redeeming yet is too difficult. All in all though, it isnt the worst game I have ever played or the worst game I have played on the DS. It should provide some thrills for the older, persistant DS owner.
