Often overlooked 4th release from the late DIO.
R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio, died may 16th 2010 of stomach cancer and he is missed. DREAM EVIL is the 4th solo release from former Elf/Rainbow/Black Sabbath singer, the late Ronnie James Dio and is an often overlooked 4 star release in my opinion. Standout tracks include the hit single "I Could Have Been A Dreamer," plus "Sunset Superman," "Night People," the title track "Dream Evil," and the epic "All the Fools Sailed Away". DREAM EVIL is the first DIO release to feature guitarist Craig Goldy on lead guitar. With stalwarts Jimmy Bain on bass and Vinny Appice on drums, the band remains tight and DREAM EVIL is a very fine 4th release from DIO. When you start out with such stellar solo releases like HOLY DIVER and THE LAST IN LINE though, it's hard to keep that momentum going so DREAM EVIL is ... R.I.P. Vintage Heavy Metal!
There's alot to like about DIO,his music always takes me back to the 1980's... when you would hear his music blasting on the radio especially the track 'Naked in the Rain'.I honestly can't criticize 'Dream Evil' enough because all of his CD's back then were great in their own way.What else can I say,get one of the DIO albums and enjoy some good old-school metal!
