Hope it lasts!
This the third replacement of Toro's variable speed Vacuum/Shredder electric leaf blower. The previous models all failed at the variable speed switch which is almost to impossible to fix/replace by TORO's design and availability of replacement parts (=none). This model has a low and high speed switch and I hope it will last longer than its predecessors. Its high speed is similar or same as the variable speed and I was very happy with the air flow of all of them and the vacuum/shredding power, specially the metallic impeller which ate through anything that made it up the vacuum pipe and then some. I really hope this lasts more than two years or will be looking for another band!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great Blower but Poor Vacuum Bag Design
Vacuum bag zipper clogs every time you open the bag to remove leaves. The zipper is a tight plastic type zipper of very low quality and a poor design. The blower is great and the vacuum is good but trying to discard leaves after vacuuming is a real chore. Leaves and trash get stuck in the zipper. I have informed Toro of the zipper problem but not received a response. If they would change the zipper to a Military type zipper, it would probably work a lot better.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The Toro 51618 leaf shredder does the job for me. I'm glad I didn't pay more for the heavier, more expensive model. It shreds dry leaves very well. It is easy to assemble. The blower is powerful. A Great Lawn Tool
I purchase the Toro Blower/Vac because my original is finally dying after a quarter century. I received a terrific deal and the unit was promptly delivered. It still is uncomfortable to use for extesive periods of time in vacuum mode, but it does a terrific job. Bad product
After looking at all the reviews, I decided this would be a great product. I was wrong. I received a defective product. When I went to turn it on the blower did now start at all. I started messing with the cover and realized that the shroud push button was not fully pushing on the safety switch (Shroud needs to be on for blower to turn on). I fixed that issue and went to turn on the blower again and the fan blades started rubbing against the shroud. At this point I realized I couldn't return it anymore since the fan blades were a bit damaged. The issue was that there was not enough space between fan blades and shroud. Not sure who's fault or was but unfortunately I ended up having to pay for someone else's mistake.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good while it lasts
