    Excellent turnout

    Kato N scale electric turnouts are very ingeniously designed and work very well. The one I ordered is doing fine and came with additional fitter tracks to make it easy to make a spur or a connecting track. I had a turnout like this that I purchased from a local hobby shop. Shortly after the owner retired and the shop closed it stopped working. The motor works and moves but the mechanism does not move the rails any more. I took it apart and examined it for issues and found none. I am hoping that this one will be as durable as the ones I bought years ago that are still working perfectly. I do recommend that you gently file the rail ends to remove tiny burrs and put on a small angled edge to make trains pass over the rail joints more smoothly and quietly and to help prevent derailments. ...

    Typical stunning Kato quality!

    My copy ran almost perfect right out of the box, with excellent throttle response at minimum current - it should have super low speed creep once truly broken in. Well designed for a tank locomotive, always a challenge given the potential problems with electrical contact. Amazing detail for such a small model, with cab detail as well as all the "bells and whistles" on the boiler. I hate to admit it, but I bought this to kitbash into a U. S. prototype logging locomotive - now I am almost afraid to risk ruining such a jewel! Typical quality Kato product. Anyone wishing to run this as a Japanese Ry. prototype or for alteration to European or American practice should be pleased.
