    No Closed Captions

    The story, characters and production as a whole are excellent except for one thing; the series has no closed captions. For my wife English is not her first language and reading makes her understanding of that language a lot easier. IOW reading English is easier for her to understand than hearing it spoken. For me, I have a hearing disability and captions are a must for me. Consequently, it took a lot longer for us to watch the series than normal because I had to pause the series many times to explain as best I could the scenes to my wife. I usually replayed the scenes so I could get the gist of what was being said. But we still liked the series.

    Dead Man's Walk is a good beginning to the above continuation of the story.

    Great second prequel to Lonesome Dove with Duval and Tommy Lee. Comanche Moon is also a great sequel.

    the worst movie I've ever seen

    This movie is at least enhanced interrogation if not downright torture. The acting is wooden, the "story" is non-sensical, and Augustus and Captain Call are portrayed as bumbling fools. If you are a fan of Lonesome Dove do yourself a favor and stay away from this movie.

    Very true to the book. A harsh story but worth it.

    This story is chronologically first in the Lonesome Dove series. You can see in these characters what you loved about Gus McCrae and Woodrow Call in later life.
