    Clifton Webb in one of his best roles

    I have wanted to add “Stars And Stripes Forever” to my collection for a long time. I enjoy history and biopics and this movie rolls that all into one along with a generous offering of patriotic music by the great composer John Philip Sousa. Rounding out the cast are Debra Paget, Robert Wagner, and Ruth Hussey. I don’t know why this one isn’t featured more often on TCM especially on patriotic holidays. It’s a winner.

    Stars and Stars for "Stars and Strips Forever!"

    The Music of John Phillips Souza is the patriotic march music of America! It is his story as done by Chifton Webb at his finest. One small thing to note to make you an expert when enjoying this story with others is that when he was the director of a military band - all the band members were master sergeants. This was so they could pay them enough that they would stay in the service. You'll be tapping you for for the entire show.

    Excellent portrayal of the legendary "March King," and convenient format.

    A highly entertaining and informative look at the career of the legendary "March King," John Philp Sousa, covering the period from his service as leader of the U.S. Marine Corps Band in the White House to his organization of the international "Sousa" band that made him a household name worldwide. Clifton Webb delivers a powerful performance as Sousa, with an excellent supporting cast of Ruth Hussey, Robert Wagner, and Debra Paget. The double Blu-ray and DVD pack is convenient for any player. And the Blu-ray has special features from historians, giving the historical context of Sousa and his time and discussing the creation of the movie itself. All together a great product!
