About this product

Product Information

What Does the Constitution Really Mean? Are liberals right when they cite the "elastic" clauses of the Constitution to justify big government? Or are conservatives right when they cite the Constitution's explicit limits on federal power? The answer lies in a more basic question: How did the founding generation intend for us to interpret and apply the Constitution? Professor Brion McClanahan, popular author of The Politically Incorrect Guideâ„¢ to the Founding Fathers , finds the answers by going directly to the source - to the Founding Fathers themselves, who debated all the relevant issues in their state constitutional conventions. In The Founding Fathers' Guide to the Constitution , you'll discover: How the Constitution was designed to protect rather than undermine the rights of States Why Congress, not the executive branch, was meant to be the dominant branch of government-and why the Founders would have argued for impeaching many modern presidents for violating the Constitution Why an expansive central government was the Founders' biggest fear, and how the Constitution-and the Bill of Rights- was designed to guard against it Why the founding generation would regard most of the current federal budget-including "stimulus packages"-as unconstitutional Why the Founding Fathers would oppose attempts to "reform" the Electoral College Why the Founding Fathers would be horrified at the enormous authority of the Supreme Court, and why the Founders intended Congress, not the Court, to interpret federal law Authoritative, fascinating, and timely, The Founding Fathers' Guide to the Constitution is the definitive layman's guide to America's most important-and often willfully misunderstood-historical document.

    Great story

Love all of Janet Evanovich novels. They are compelling, funny, and a fun read. Wonderful characters with Stephanie, Joe, Ranger et al.

  • Two alpha dogs, one Stephanie, makes a PERFECT READ!

"Twelve Sharp" is an extremely funny book and much better than the last Stephanie Plum book, "Eleven on Top". Maybe not as good as some of the originals, but holds one of the top five spots for sure! Most of the regular characters are included: Stephanie's parents, Grandma Mazur, Stephanie's on and off boyfriend Joe Morelli, Lula, Connie, and Sally Sweet are all there. I personally was thrilled that Janet Evanovich gives a little more insight into the mysterious Ranger's private life. He is so yummy and this makes him even more human and well his "babe" just gets better and better! Evanovich adds a new character, Melvin Pickle, who brings a lot of fun to the book. Some of the captures that Lula and Stephanie make are wonderful, typical screw ups that make you laugh till it hurts. ...

  • Getting Better, Janet!

My grown daughters and I were avid Stephanie Plum fans. I turned them onto the series, and they really have enjoyed the books. However, the three of us decided that, by the 10th book, things were getting a bit stale. Stephanie and her cute little t-shirts and tight jeans, and the loony bail jumpers, yada yada yada. THIS book was better because it involved Ranger's own story. We need a bit more Ranger, a little less "hot Stephanie" and how everyone lusts after her. The story was more fun to read, and I found myself a bit more engaged. Evanovich cannot do this for EVERY Plum book hereafter, I realize, so I just don't know how she is going to keep this series going. And going. Maybe more Joe? Maybe more Rex? How about more contemporary types of crimes, like identity theft or ...

  • Twelve Sharp

THIS is Janet Evanovich's best book yet. It moves along at a good clip and does not rehash old information like in the first books of the Stephanie Plum series. Those books, you could almost start at Chapter 4 and not miss anything because you're just reading the 'same old stuff' carried over from the previous books: 'I'm Stephanie Plum. I'm a bounty hunter.' Yes, we got that in Book 1. Plus those got boring with Stephanie and Lula doing the same stupid things over and over again from book to book. I was getting very irrated that they didn't LEARN from those mistakes early on. Don't get me wrong -- her books ARE funny. I've had some sections on earlier books where I've laughed so hard I had tears and had to re-read a segment something like 3 - 4 times, still cracking up, to get ...

  • Good but not up to par for the series.

I have read all 12 of the Stephanie Plum series and this is not one of my favorites. Altho I did laugh out loud a couple of times, it did not put me in stitches as they usually do. I thought no car blow-ups was great..it was getting old. Grandma wasn't in it as much as I would like. I liked more about Ranger, he is great..babe...I would like to see Ranger make more of an effort to "woo" Stephanie, not just keep talking about it.. The book was also quite short??
