The leather is soft and will get softer as time goes by. This is a true black, not one of those pale, grayish blacks. Lots and lots of compartments, but even stuffing the purse won't mis-shape it. This purse is exactly as advertised! Genuine leather, easy-to-use locking sleeves accessible for either left- or right-handed users. Stitching is tight; lining and zippered pockets well-tooled. Only issue is with the metal zipper leads and rings; they are not likely to age well. Very happy with this purchase!
