    • Pathetic - don't waste your money!

Very very disappointing. Having read the book I decided to buy the film version, which was advertised as 'in the Bond genre of the time' ie Connery, the original and best ever Bond. What a mistake and waste of money - the characters were totally different to their portrayal in Leasor's original story - Niven being far too suave, smooth and 'smiley' to be a realistic and believable Dr Jason Love, and John Le Mesurier cast as MacGillivray was simply ridiculous. The car journey in Love's Cord was just pathetic - looking like it had been made in the 1930's, with a poorly painted backdrop rushing past the stationary Cord, and the mechanical dialogue was laughable - obviously written by someone with zero knowledge of cars, mechanics or motoring. I did continue watching to the end, in the hope ...
