It does have some effect.
15 years old condensing boiler started to "kettle" about three years ago. Gave this a try and after adding to heating system the noise gradually diminished over a few weeks. Dosed the system again as a maintenance measure and there is still very little "kettling" as the water heats. Not cheap but must be cost effective in the long term.

Doesn't work for me
Like many other similar products it doesn't work for me. The only alternative is to use Fernox DS40 descaler. I've used this once. It has to be flushed out of the system and leaves a horrible scum in the header tank. Never again.
