Does what it says on the bottle

I have had problems with my DPF clogging up on my 2014 Nissan X trail Dci (T32). As the filter clogging up is not covered by the manufactures warranty, and having spent £187 to get it cleaned, I decided to use STP Particulate Filter cleaner regularly (I have used STP products previously) as it is quite inexpensive compared to some similar products. I have not had any further problems with the DPF over 10000 miles but it has also improved my MPG from approximately 48 MPG to 56 MPG on a 80 mile round trip on the M4. The car is also more responsive especially from standstill.

    Not sure about it

I bought 3 bottles of this because I run a diesel and due to shorter trips I was getting error message "filter in danger of clogging". I added a bottle to a full tank as instructed but after using the car as usual I was still getting the warning. So as instructed I went for a thrash on the motorway for 30 mins. This cured the problem but it would have done so WITHOUT the additive. The question is will the additive keep the filter clear from now on? I am now back on refilling with diesel alone so lets see. It days use every 1800 miles. All I can say is try it but I can"t really recommend or not! Time will tell!

  • Got rid of my engine management fault light and made the car run a whole lot better too! Well worth buying.

I run an old diesel car and had been experiencing difficulty with the engine management light showing up on the dash. It turned out that the diesel particulate filter (CAT) in the exhaust system was clogged. After running a couple of bottles of STP DPF cleaner though the fuel system, not only has the annoying light on the dash gone out, but the car has more power as well as better fuel economy.

  • STP diesel particulate filter cleaner

I have used this additive for the last twelve months and and over that period there is a notable improvement, the engine runs smoother, easier and quieter there may also be a small increase in mpg one or two miles difficult to measure as most of my journeys are short certainly no increase.

  • STP - DPF cleaner

Appears to be good value for money if you get at least 1500 miles per bottle against the 1800 miles quoted. If this can keep the dpf from blocking up with soot whilst doing a fair amount of shorter journeys this will rate as exceptional value for money and I will be buying for the duration of the vehicle but only time will tell. I am still expecting this to only assist the running of the vehicle on shorter journeys by way of the soot being burnt out of the dpf at lower temperature and prolong the useful life of the dpf. This will equate to a spend of approx £15 a year which when compared to the cost of a new dpf or even just the hassle of taking this off and getting it cleaned out appears like a win win situation :-) Thanks
