Yamaha makes a great flute. They have been making great flutes for decades. Some of my favorite flutes are not the newly minted flutes, but the slightly older flutes as they have more character and depth of tone. Many pre owned slightly older Yamaha 581 flutes have flawless key action and provide such a gorgeous tone from low to high, and are as durable or more durable than the newer version costing several thousands of dollars more. I prefer C foot flutes to B foot flutes, as they allow brighter easier high notes. I tend to have more difficulty in the high range and seldom if ever play the low B note. Flutes most often are playing in the 3rd and 4th octaves, as we are the voice or treble. Nice bright high notes are a requirement !

Bought for gigs this summer. I am a Sax doubler. I like the older Yamaha flutes 581 better than the new flutes. They feel more substantial and give me a fuller richer tone
