Jolly 19th Century fun
Heard about this book via Ian Hislop’s Radio 4 series on suburbia, and I can imagine Ian reading this and chuckling along to the wry musings of Mr. Pooter and his travails. While It isn’t exactly filled with rip-roaring one-liners, I have found myself laughing out loud at nearly every page at the mishap or misadventures of the titular hero. Being a ‘Nobody’, like me, and like all of us, his daily life is very mundane but relatable, despite the 19th century setting.Heard about this book via Ian Hislop’s Radio 4 series on suburbia, and I can imagine Ian reading this and chuckling along to the wry musings of Mr. Pooter and his travails.
