Great Hard Drive
Hard Drive came in excellent condition and delivery was fast. Currently using this as a PlayStation 2 hard drive and it works a treat with plenty of storage for loads of games and for a reasonable price.

WORKS A TREAT FOR AN EXTERNAL MEDIA RECORDING DEVICE.
I bought this Seagate Pipeline Hard Drive to make an external Recording Drive for a TechniSat HDFV Freeview HD Set-Top Box. As this box does not have it's own hard drive for recording, but does have a rear USB Port, it was the only solution availabe to me. I had an External Hard Drive, a Verbatim, that contained a 1.5TB Drive which I removed to use in a PC Build, thus leaving an empty case. The Pipeline drive was easy to, and fit, into the case perfectly snugly. Some initial online research showed that this drive is mostly used for such Devices, Media Recording, and it has done the job admirably. Once fitted into the case and connected up to the TechniSat with it's original Verbatim USB cable, it was recognised and formatted by the HDFV, and ready for recording TV Programmes, which it ... I bought this Seagate Pipeline Hard Drive to make an external Recording Drive for a TechniSat HDFV Freeview HD Set-Top Box. Once fitted into the case and connected up to the TechniSat with it's original Verbatim USB cable, it was recognised and formatted by the HDFV, and ready for recording TV Programmes, which it has done without failure. As I download movies from peer-to-peer sites onto my computer, it has been an easy process to transfer these to the External Drive, and watch them on my 40" LCD Samsung TV too. My Set-Up is this; Self-Build PC next to the Samsung TV {which is connected via HDMI cable}. The TechniSat {also connected to the TV by HDMI} adjacent to the TV and PC. When a downloaded film is not in the right Movie File Format for the HDFV, I have convert it to MPeg II, the only Format the TechniSat HDFV will play. I then disconnect the USB cable from that and plug it into the PC, and then copy or move the film to the Pipeline External Drive, thus when done, un-plug from PC and re-connect to the TechniSat. And there they are, added to the Recordings List, and as easy to watch as a recorded TV programme.

Good value and quiet drive.
This was purchased to replace a failing hard disk on an existing system. As the system was old speed wasn't of paramount importance so this fitted the criteria having a lower speed and consequently excellent low power consumption and very little noise. It was also backwardly compatible by the use of a jumper over pins at the back of the drive to enable this SATA2 drive to be used on an original SATA system without any problems. Be aware that you do need a micro jumper as the drive doesn't have any fitted but these only cost a few pence. If using it in the SATA2 configuration then no additional jumpers are required. Despite the low spin speed (5900rpm) of the hard drive it was actually found that the data throughput was cinsiderably faster than the older failing drive with a faster spin ... This was purchased to replace a failing hard disk on an existing system. If using it with Windows XP, Vista or 7 you will find that you'll need to reformat the drive into the NTFS format but this isn't difficult and can be done when instslling Windows onto the drive or if not the main drive then from within Windows itself. To comclude I can recommend this drive as good value for money with quiet performance.

Unbelievable value and a fantastic upgrade!
Simple case of slotting this hard drive in the box (an ageing Thomson HD Sky box with a failing HDD), no formatting required, worked straight away and retained all my custom settings. Far quieter than the old drive and has cured most of the problems and improved general picture/sound quality and speed of working. For this price, it's a no brainer - a faster, quieter, larger HDD than the original at a great price and delivered in a flash. My Humax gave up and deleted all my recordings and the disc would not reformat. I was about to buy a new one when I saw on Utube how easy it was to fit a new disc. I thought Id try it and bought this one - it was reconditioned, so not new, but it was realy good value, and when Id got the old one out and put this in it worked first time and so far has been going fine for over a month, including recording all the Xmas TV.
