I've been using Mr Coffee coffeemakers since the 1970's and I've never been disappointed. This particular model (DR5) is perfect for one or two people and it makes a great cup of coffee. I bought this one to replace the one that I finally wore out (same model). Hard water buildup will eventually cause problems. You can use vinegar or CLR for cleaning, but I've found that using distilled water is the best way to extend the life. Note: for this coffeemaker 1 cup = 5 fl oz. which is enough to fill smaller coffee cups. If you use the larger coffee mugs, you'll have enough to fill about two.

What a disappointment. I have been using the smaller Mr. Coffee makers like this for 20 years but this model is HORRIBLE. It must be something with the one full top that opens - whereas the older model had separate compartments for the water and then a swing out basket for the coffee grounds. Whatever. The engineering changed and I cannot believe it got through quality control. This is terrible and I gave it away to charity. Hopefully no one pays too much for it or they like weak coffee. I was even using TWICE the amount of coffee grounds and it still wasn't right. Do not waste your money!
