About this product

Product Information

In her own words, the life of the beautiful young model and dancer who helped to bring down the Tory government of Harold Macmillan - the 'Profumo Affair' remains the greatest political sex scandal in recent British history. Following Christine Keeler's death in December 2017, it is now possible to update her book to include revelations that she did not wish to be published in her lifetime. The result is a revised and updated book containing material that has never been officially released, which really does lift the lid on just how far the Establishment will go to protect its own. Published to coincide with the BBC's major new six-part TV drama series, The Trial of Christine Keeler, starring Sophie Cookson as Keeler and James Norton as Stephen Ward.

  • Sums it all up perfectly

Interesting look at Promiscuity in the late 50's early 60's prior to birth control and "Freedom" I'v always had the strange notion that sex was still taboo post Victorian time up to 1967.... it was as underground as the Narcotics and Espionage. Keeler refers to London at that time as the "village" and how different life was... the fascinating thing is the melting pot of Balding, fat, libido driven players from all sides of the Political spectrum, creeds and lifestyles, the very worse people at times touch upon the ordinary ignorant and innocent. Its distasteful at its worst but riveting at its best. A book that reminds you hiw the wheels of power functioned at that time and..... how promiscuous a woman can be.

  • Good.

I knew this lady while in my teens, but this book really informed me of aspects of her life that I wasn't aware of! A good read. Shame that the Grade 2 listed house at Wimpole Mews has been altered almost beyond recognition. 😟

  • Fascinating read

From someone who wasnt born until the end of the 60s, and loved the film Scandal, I couldn't put this down. Essential reading

  • Compelling

Written by the person at the centre of the Profumo affair, a detailed and fascinating insight from the point of view of the woman so castigated and maligned by the press and society. It tells a sad story of how she was drawn into the shady world of the rich and powerful and then scapegoated to cover up and draw attention away from the real scandal of the day and left in poverty living in a council flat trying to bring up her child as a single parent.
