You wont Regret it! A classic to have in your collection of movies. A real eye opener about what life can throw at you when you least expect it. A No brainer when it comes to good taste in film. Will have you angry, Happy, Laughing and crying all in one film. Good Movie!

Defines many ways that we can love each other
The relationship in this movie, between the mother, played by Shirley MacLaine, and the daughter, played by Debra Winger, is certainly appropriately displayed in this film. A mother who loves her daughter, but has trouble maintaining a relationship with her, especially after she chooses to marry Jeff Daniels. Raised in a well to do home, the daughter takes a step down in marrying Jeff Daniels, at least that is how her mother feels. Throughout the movie, the relationship between mother and daughter grows into a real love, but it is all cut short by the fact that the daughter develops cancer and is dying. The thing that I didn't really like was that Jeff Daniels has an affair with another woman and has chosen her over his family. The character of Jeff Daniels is the one that you want to ... The real surprise is the relationship that develops between the mother and her next door neighbor, a former astronaut, played by Jack Nicholson. This relationship will become the final event of the movie, leaving the grandchildren to be raised by their grendmother and not their father.

Love this movie, one of the greats!
Such an incredible movie and heartwarming and a tear jerker for sure. Each time I watch this movie, I end up crying at the end. (each time!) Great cast of characters!!
