About this product

Product Information

The novel that launched Virginia Andrews' superselling career: the tale of four children locked in an attic by their once-loving mother! It was a game of happy families. The four children lived such perfect lives in such a happy, golden family. It was a game of hide and seek. Their father died suddenly. The children now lived alone, hidden in the airless attic. It was a case of tender, loving murder. Their mother promised that they would stay only long enough to inherit her family's fortune. But gradually she forgot how much she adored those children. Millions of readers have been enthralled by this gripping story of a family's betrayal and heartbreak, love and revenge - which then sows the seeds for the future.

Item arrived quickly and well packaged, However I was a little disapointed in the condition. It was described as new but i would not describe my copy as new, the dust cover was in quit poor condition and had a lot of storage wear so unfortunatly it went in the bin, Luckily the book itself was acceptable but not new. This is not a negative on the seller as I have read many positve reviews, Rather an honest review of the book I revieved.

    Ehh its okay

Was expecting the book to look as it does on the listing, and it to be the 2005 print as is stated in the details. The copy i received was publish in 1989, which is fine, but would have liked to be given the correct details. The book is fine, and can be read. Aside from it not being the copy i was expecting there is a minor issue with the cover. There is something stuck to the front cover, that i am unsure what it could be, which is slightly off-putting, as i am unaware of what it is. Overall i am slightly disappointed, as i was expecting something different. Saying this, the book is readable, and relatively cheap, but am unsure if i would purchase another item.

  • Intriguing, problematic, neo-gothic page-turner.

Kept me turning the pages but after a while a certain amount of repetitive fatigue started to creep in. Intriguing but somewhat far-fetched at times ( a couple of episodes involving mice stretched the limits of imagination and credibility!). Published in the late '70's the book has an almost gothic sensibility more appropriate to the Bronte sisters. Some problematic subjects are handled with delicacy although undoubtedly controversial for the time. There are sequels to "Flowers" as well as a prequel which I am certainly tempted to investigate. Three and a half stars.

  • The book is really old. I was expecting it to be used but not that used...it was really old and worn and the pages had yellowed with age

The book was really old. I was expecting some wear but not as much as this . The book was really old and the pages had yellowed with age. Different to picture advertising it

  • Still a good read years later

I read this series of books when a teenage girl at school. I am now 50 years old and reading them again. Still a brilliant read, highly recommended
