About this product

Product Information

A joint re-issue of George Orwell's most famous novels, alongside Nineteen Eighty-Four Mr Jones of Manor Farm is so lazy and drunken that one day he forgets to feed his livestock. The ensuing rebellion under the leadership of the pigs Napoleon and Wellington leads to the animals taking over the farm. Vowing to eliminate the terrible inequities of the farmyard, the renamed Animal Farm is organized to benefit all who walk on four legs. But as time passes, the ideals of the rebellion are corrupted, then forgotten. And something new and unexpected emerges ... Animal Farm - the history of a revolution that went wrong - is George Orwell's brilliant satire on the corrupting influence of power.

Comrade - Its Just Not Working

This is a well written book which may have been a little controversial at the time of publication. Great read - can't quite understand why I have not read previously. Will read his 1984 book next.

  • A great timeless read at a price much cheaper than most places.

Animal Farm is a gripping and timeless tale about the abuse of power. George Orwell writes so beautifully yet so simply to really illustrate his over arching themes and points. Whilst this book deals with some rather serious topics, such as totalitarian states, there are many comedic segments! I truly loved this book and will be re-reading it in the near future!

  • excellent depiction of events beautiful use of English.

a milestone in English literature Yet again, this time Boris Johnson's grasping crony inept Government shows what happens when he pigs have the management of the farm. Perhaps the measure of Johnson's success should be the number of Covid gravestones and the flourishing of charitable foodbanks. And yet, again, we are told that all is in hand and progressing well. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE WORD "AMAZING" It has become so debased. Surely GOOD will do?

  • A brilliant read!

I'm not usually an avid reader but this book had me hooked from start to finish. Although the story is told about animals, it is certainly directed at our human nature, revealing how subtle the downfall from high held values and goals to raw nature is. So very well written.
