  • True to its title

This book provides an accurate, physiologic (but not overly complicated) explanation of death. It explains that death is cessation of oxygenation of the body's tissues, regardless of the mechanism. To read how this change is manifested in the living organism is a bit upsetting, but after all, the title of the book is "How We Die". It's written by a physician, who includes several of his personal experiences with patients. If you have a genuine curiosity regarding the process of dying and don't mind a straightforward, relatively dispassionate description, I recommend this book.
