  • Scary Stuff!

Its 2018 and the UK is still living with this Sub Prime disaster. Why do you think there is no money coming from the government!? Yes 2008 was as bad as the Great Wall Street Crash, at least it was financially. This book is about a few people who saw that this bubble in the housing market was 'about' to burst and how they were going to make money from it. Its not an easy read to be honest. I'm fairly familiar with what happened and how it happened but even I struggled to follow all of the things in this book. I guess it will take a couple of readings to understand it fully. You will be shocked at the way the people involved with creating this crash behaved, and that includes the US government and its departments. • When the Banks Bet the House

This is a book about the sub-prime mortgage crisis of 2008. Some people realized that the banks could not go on lending on such poor assets, repackaging them and then selling them on indefinitely without the whole edifice crumbling. They were very smart people and not only did they realize the true state of things but they bet against the banks. When the banks effectively went bust they cleaned up. Lots of things are obvious with hindsight but it takes real guts to bet against them when everyone else says that you're wrong. A great read that once again proves that when things looks too good to be true it's usually because they are!!
