Ok but could be better
It will create sparks that will get your tinder going. But… the striker is powder coated which means the cerated edge is useless for scraping the magnesium off the block. The striker plate could be a little bigger to create more sparks

Not much to say. It does what it says. But you must learn how to use it. You need dry tinder and prepare your firewood etc. When you have it’s one of the best for the great outdoors. Will work in the rain.

Fire Starter it works!!
The only things that detracts from this review being excellent instead of good is the striker is not much good for shaving the magnesium block, and the diameter of the spark rod could be wider to give more sparks.

When you're out in the middle of nowhere and you're wet and cold and everything is wet including your matches and your lighter has died this hi Lite highlighter will save your life just quite capable of lighting wet tinder using magnesium scraped from the large magnesium block which holds ferrocerium "flint" many similar devices which claim to be magnesium are not. They are just ferrocerium rods which are quite capable of igniting dry tinder but have extreme difficulty in igniting tinder which is damp or wet. Due to the use of magnesium which is scraped off the block and burns at a temperature of about 3000 degrees centigrade this lump of metal will assist you in lighting the fire that just might save your life. The sparking rod can also be used as an emergency signal due to the intense ...
