About this product

Product Information

The early 1990s "cult classic" series of anime movies and shorts is the inspiration for this adventure game, orginally designed by the Japanese developers at Kadokawa. Like the Record of Lodoss War animated films, this game is set in a fantasy world of swords and sorcery, populated by goblins and dwarves.

Players take the role of a hero who, at the game's beginning, has very little to his name aside from a mission to do good and vanquish evil. The game has been compared to the PC hit Diablo for its simple but effective combat interface, its item-based character development, and its similar third-person perspective, but Record of Lodoss War is a true console game, with action designed for Dreamcast gamepad control.

By guiding the hero through detailed underground and outdoor environments, players will encounter vile dungeon denizens to smite and informative NPC's to query. Through his travels, the hero will also find equipment and special items to help him become more powerful and better able to face the increasingly deadly challenges ahead.

Received it New in Box Exactly as described! Shipping speed was average now got here in 5 days once I received tracking number. Shipping price could have been cheaper or Free for I was paying the over priced PS5 Console covers! But other then that no complaints. Great seller now and I definitely recommend him if you can’t find what you are looking for at MSRP in your local area or Online.

  • A good game.

Once upon a time, I saw a great anime show called "Record of Lodoss War." This was a great show that had a wonderful plot. An evil wizard, known as Wagnaard (with a 'v' sound) wanted to bring about a ressurection of the evil goddess Kardiss. There is more to the story, and I wish that I had time to tell it. But, on to the game. Graphics 7/10 For the time that this game came out (when the PS1 was still the hottest thing out there) the graphics are just like the PS1, only more polished and refined. The characters are blocky and rough. The cinematics are beautifully rendered, and the voice acting is tremendous. It would be awhile before seeing high quality acting like this for awhile. Gameplay- 8/10 Overall, the gameplay is very similar to the "Baldur's Gate: DA" series for PS2 ...

  • Perfect balance of gameplay - action/RPG in 3rd person

Record Of Lodoss Was is one of several games that I play in secret after the kids go to bed. Does it have game play? YES! Seems to be a perfect balance of learning, searching, sword fighting and maintaining health and items. Can't describe it but the developers somehow added intelligence to the formula. This title was ahead of its time in the hack-n-slash quest type genre. Aciton/RPG's in third person perspective have become really popular, especially on the PS2, but this was among the first and this game was only available on the Sega Dreamcast. In third person perspective you must, of course, save the world from evil. You were a great warrior long ago and have been resurrected. You must learn, again, how to fight, and you feel the need to learn more about who you once were. This ...

  • Combining a classic anime property and a popular PC game on Dreamcast.

Record of Lodoss War is a fair accomplishment on the Sega Dreamcast. It manages to take a classic anime property and combine it with the PC hit Diablo and it actually works for the most part. It matches Diablo's basic play structure so fans of dungeon crawlers and loot fests are sure to enjoy it. RoLW plays as a hack-n-slash looter like Diablo so it's safe to say the game is a fair exercise in repitition, it's not for everyone. If you can withstand some bits of tedium in play you'll have fun running through the Lodoss rich hack-n-slash. It's worth noting that there is a fair amount of difficulty and cruelty in the game in terms of getting tossed into brutal enemies and ambushes. As mentioned above, if you're not a dungeon crawler lover, this game is probably a 4-star shot in the dark ...

  • RPG Gold

Record of Lodoss War is a surprising gem of a title. More like it and the Dreamcast may have stood a better chance of survival. The controls and features of the game are deviously simple to learn. Most people will be comfortable with gameplay within an hour. Yet the game is wicked hard to truely master and defeat. All in all, it is a title well worth buying and playing. I doubt anyone would feel it was money ill spent. The graphics may not rival the lastest Final Fantasy release, but it is still a healthy choice.
