About this product

Product Information

Following the style-blending lead of its home computer inspiration, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is a handheld game featuring elements of role-playing, strategy, and puzzle game genres. The adventure is set in the Medieval fantasy realm of Etheria, familiar from the Warlords and Warlords Battlecry series of PC strategy games. Single players guide a customizable hero character around a game board, solving more than 150 puzzles to conquer territory and earn stat-improving experience. An "Instant Action" mode is also available, offering a non-stop succession of puzzles without any game-board questing. Multiplayer modes allow head-to-head competition over a local wireless connection.

  • Puzzle Quest DS(rare) - worth it if u can find it!!!

Puzzle Quest is your typical puzzle game, almost like a bejewled type, but has an extremely fun roleplaying element to it. Using only your stylus you can upgrade your character with stats, equipment, and spells like most rpgs but... for "puzzle fighting!" I have never played anything like this where there's actually a strategy to how u play the battles it's not just about matching cliched colored gems but its how can you build a possible combo of 4,5 or even 6 of kind gems to help your character and stay one step ahead of your enemy. Graphics are your typical DS graphics as far as gameplay goes but the mini cutscenes have an "animeish" look to them because of the character style chosen. The sound is probably the most lacking for the whole experience, it's the same looping king arthur music ...

  • Just what I wanted

I just purchaces Puzzle Quest:Challenge of the Warlords (Nintendo DS). I had played a trial version so I knew what to expect, but for those that don't it's and RPG game that takes your character (whichever of the 4 categories with 5 characters each) that you choose all over their home lands fighting in battles against the undead, rabid rats, skeletons, knights and more. The battles aren't head to head contact fights, but puzzle battles (like a Collapse type puzzle) that each Mana (the items you are collapsing) gives you the power to cast spells against your opponent and some do damage just by removing them (skulls). You also have Gold that you can match up to gain money in battles. After battling certain opponents you may also have the option of capturing them and either using them as ...

  • Addicting puzzles and a story? SOLD!

I openly admit I bought this based on the review from Tycho of Penny Arcade; I hadn't really heard about it till then. It's based off 'Bejeweled' (and a few older games with a similar premise) but it takes the basic formula and makes it competitive against the AI. Whenever I play this it always takes me a few minutes to adjust to the difference of waiting my turn, but it is loads of fun. The story, while not actually consisting of a lot of the time you'll spend playing this, is good and entertaining. I also enjoy the characters, especially the companions - some of them are downright hilarious. I've actually put off finishing this because it's a perfect game for traveling or killing time, since you can save pretty much whenever outside of a match, so I carry it around whenever I go out of ...

  • The game is Excellent

The perfect RPG with Puzzle elements. At first glance, it looks just like Bejewelled, but once you start playing, you realize how deep the core gameplay goes. There is a map where you navigate your avatar, there is a "citadel" where you can craft items, you can capture mounts and level them up, there is a store, etc... The Multiplayer mode is great. You can level up your character by playing against someone before launching into single-player quest mode. The game is well-tuned for this. I was level 20 before I even started questing. Cons--the occasional art glitches and in timed mode, the pop up text (i.e., "Heroic Effort") covers up the moves (annoying because you are trying to see all the moves in a hurry). Overall, a great, addictive game. I only wish it was easier to find in a ...
