About this product

Product Information

Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution renovates AM2's prominent 3D fighting game with a number of presentational and gameplay improvements. While retaining the acclaimed depth, balance, and flexibility of the 2002 PS2 hit, this revisit adds new game modes, new challenges, and two new characters, as well as overall enhancements to the graphics and audio.

Many of this version's new modes and features expand upon concepts introduced in VF4's innovative Kumite mode. Evolution offers single-player quests in two different arenas. The World West competitions present a series of opponents of varying ranks and AI fighting styles, and function like an expanded version of the original game's Kumite.

The Event Arena presents five different tournaments, each altering the basic fighting rules in some way. One tournament features single-round battles in which the damage per attack is reduced, while another speeds up the intricate action to an almost button-mashing pace.

A pair of new fighters join the original VF4's cast of 13. Goh Hinogami uses his own combination of fighting styles, and is especially proficient at ground attacks and reversals. The brooding Brad Burns plies kickboxing prowess against all challengers.

    Don’t pass up this series.

Great game. One of the best fighting games of all time, with simple and intuitive controls on top of one of if not the deepest fighting systems ever, making it truly easy to pick up and play but incredibly difficult to master, and it’s quest mode is one of the best single player fighting game modes ever.

  • Awesome fighting game for the PS2.

Brand new packaging. Game ages like a mighty fine wine. Even has the Classic VF1 mode style that also features VF4 cast in ye olde polygon style.

  • Far better than anything Namco has put out on ps2

VF is the original and still the best 3d fighter. VF is easy to start but it is hard to master, unlike tekken there is depth here not just combos and tired juggle fest. VF and Tekken often get compared often VF gets the shaft by people have a hatred for anything sega especially going back to the 32 bit era. VF may not have as many characters as Tekken or 'creativity' as Tekken, But there is polish, depth and more realism here. This version of vf4 is worth owning even if you own the original vf4, I even recommend this version over the original 4. Evo adds new characters and an anniversay vf game which is all the vf4 characters in vf1 style.

  • Hardcore Fighters Only

I have a complicated feeling of this game. VF4 is an incredible fighting game, but it's so difficult. The movesets are made so a player can't button-mash and expect to win, and every character feels completely different. It's frustrating for me, who likes to unlock everthing for every character in fighting games, because it takes so long to get good enough with a character to play through the game and unlock stuff. However, the game's still so much fun! I love the mode which simulates you going to arcades in Japan and the character customizing is still unmatched in any fighting (I think, but I have high hopes for Tekken 6 in this area). The animation is fluid and the graphics are great, although I think the characters are a bit bland. Good thing for the customizing. This is the game for ...

  • IF You dont have virtua fighter 4...

this game is probably a decent deal if you can get it for under 15 bucks to your door...If however you have VF4, as I did...don't waste the money...they added 2 characters and a couple of features that don't really add much. just get vf5. If you are unfamiliar with the virtua-fighter series, I would call it a relatively mindless fighting game. You will win the first 4 or 5 fights by button-mashing alone. There are times it's good. other times you may want a more challenging fighting game, like Tekken or soul calibur...they all are fun, but i would say that this series is the least taxing.
