Synopsis
Providing the poor with access to financial services is one of many ways to help increase their incomes and productivity. In many countries, however, traditional financial institutions have failed to provide this service. Microcredit and co-operative programmes have been developed to fill this gap. Their purpose is to help the poor become self-employed and thus escape poverty. Many of these programmes provide credit using social mechanisms, such as group-based lending, to reach the poor and other clients, including women, who lack access to formal financial institutions. With increasing assistance from the World Bank and other donors, microfinance is emerging as an instrument for reducing poverty and improving the poor's access to financial services in low-income countries. This book examines the experiences of the Grameen Bank and two other major microcredit programmes in Bangladesh in order to quantify the potential and limitations of microcredit programs as an instrument for reducing poverty and delivering financial sevices to the poor., This book examines the experiences of the Grameen Bank, the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee, and the Bangladesh Rural Development Board's Rural Development Project-12 in order to quantify the potential and limitations of microcredit programs as an instrument for reducing poverty and delivering financial services to the poor., With increasing assistance from the World Bank and other donors, microfinance is emerging as an instrument for reducing poverty and improving the poor's access to financial services in low-income countries. Unbelievably sleazy seller. I actually emailed them asking them why this particular copy was so cheap and the reply was a laconic oh it's just a DVD. It's actually a battered ex Library copy, it arrived loose in its case and it's highly scratched to the point where I don't even know if it's going to play or not and I haven't gotten around to testing the thing because I don't want to be upset even more. The seller is out of control I need to be banned from eBay. There was no description btw.

I was satisfied with my purchase. This seller doesn’t include full descriptions, they only use pictures. The picture in this case was of a box. Be sure to ask questions about the item BEFORE you’ve paid. When I had a question that’s what they told me (& that they do hundreds of transactions a day). As it turned out, I was satisfied with my purchase, but had no idea exactly how many CDs I was getting until I opened the package.
