Explore the life and career of a musical artist who penned some of the biggest hits of the 1960s before turning his back on fame and completely reinventing himself as a reclusive outsider artist. In the mid-'60s, few bands rose higher up the British pop charts than the Walker Brothers, and as the front man of the group, Scott Walker was constantly in the spotlight. In the years that followed, the American-born Walker would split from the group to establish himself as a successful solo artist while inspiring such popular musicians as David Bowie and Bono. Now, as the release of Walker's 2006 solo album, The Drift, draws near, the existential crooner notorious for not granting interviews allows filmmaker Stephen Kijak to follow along for tantalizing glimpse at one of the world's most enigmatic musicians.

Arrived in poor condition. Due solely to the negligent lack of any packaging. Just placed in a grey plastic bag. Not good enough and showed complete lack of respect for the buyer and product. I asked for a new case to replace cracked one just offered partial refund or " return". Had me over a barrel as the CD is very hard to source and isn't cheap. So had no choice but to accept the partial refund. Not happy at all! Poor service in every regard.

Popular Music's Mr Enigma Revealed
The title of this revealing documentary comes from one of Scott Walker's great solo albums released during the late 1960s and known simply as "Scott 3" ,like so much of Scott's work since the latter days of the Walker "Brothers" it was in my (and many others)opinion, ahead of its time and the title "30th Century Man" fits Scott perfectly. This 2006 Documentary achieves much on several levels, Looking as it does at the early years of Scotty Engel's early efforts in the music business as a sort of Donny Osmond teen star and moving through to his time with John Walker(Maus) and finally teaming up as the Pop trio hearthrobs of the 60s through which so many of us got to hear and admire the superb vocal abilities of Scott. The documentary carefully weaves a path through not only Scott's career ... The documentary carefully weaves a path through not only Scott's career but has faithfull admirers such as Lulu , David Bowie & Marc Almond & other Pop luminairies all offer their thoughts on the man and his work, I particularly enjoyed the reactions of people actually listening to tracks from Scotts solo albums ,some of the tracks never get heard outside of Scott's loyal band of admirers(of whom there are plenty). Scott chats to the interviewer on and of throughout the film and is frank and open about his lifes work and career as never before,his great humour also shines through and this I think is one of the highlights of the film, I particularly liked Scott's comment when asked why he's out of the limelight for so long? He simply replies "Its because I have nothing new to say" ! The final part of the Documentary observes Scott at work in the studio on his most recent album "The Drift" a typically eclectic work that as usual took many years to complete , and as Scott himself confesses "It takes as long as it takes , I am just slow I guess!" Scott Walker is without doubt an enigma but he is also a highly intelligent and dedicated artist and as far as this reviewer is concerned can take as long as he likes to produce his work as long as he possibly can! 4611Linda-August 2008

As Scott asks us in the song 30 Century Man, which would you choose to be...Dwarf or Giant? This is the documentary of a man who opts to be the former but in doing so delivers a body of work that is gigantic in its scope. 30 Century Man looks at Scott's history and the events that have shaped a 1960's pop star into a truely unique and visionary artist. From interviews with inspired and inspiring fans through to the man himself, the documentary allows the viewer a chance to understand and feel where his music comes from. Whilst it doesn't reveal anything about Scott Walker's personal life, 30 Century Man is insightful enough to satisfy both the casual viewer through to the his most hardened fans. Music documentaries are becoming more and more revealing, sometimes at the expense of the ... As Scott asks us in the song 30 Century Man, which would you choose to be...Dwarf or Giant? Scott Walker is the reclusive baritone singer from the sixties.Scott's style is unique and at times ground breaking.The DVD as directed by David Bowie gives an interesting insight into an underestimated artist, who keeps the viewer intrigued with his mystery and character.Buy it...............
