About this product

Product Information

The PlayStation's first 3D fighting game, Battle Arena Toshinden features eight distinct combatants armed with weapons. Some characters carry swords and clubs, while others crack whips or slash with claws. Each warrior can also use special attacks, throws, projectiles, and juggles to keep their rivals at bay. Similar to Sega's Virtua Fighter series, characters battle each other within a ring and can roll to the left or right to avoid attacks. In addition to the single-player game, which has you battling a series of computer-controlled opponents, the title also features a head-to-head mode for competition against a friend. Four camera angles display the action from a variety of perspectives.

    This game cannot be played on a PlayStation in the UK has it is not pal don't buy unless you have the correct PlayStation to play on has I made this mistake since it doesn't state this is not a pal disc in the description it is on the disc if you zoom it in

    Classic Fighting game one of my favs!

    I am probably one of the rare ones but I love this series! It was one of my first games I bought for the Playstation. Of course compare to fighting games today, this is nothing. But back then when games like Tekken and Virtual fighter was popular, this game competed well against them! This game has a good soundtrack and great graphics at the time! They also included the side step which was the first! I still love this game for the fact that I believe they have some of the best artwork! (I wish they used the same illustrator as the DVD!) Characters looks awesome! I hope that someday they just remade this game for today in Street Fighter style! (Not totally 3D out like Tekken!) I hope this helps! This game is getting rarer and rarer to find!

    Outdated piece of gaming history.

    Battle Arena Toshinden is one of the early games that launched with the Sony Playstation in 1995. As the system's first 3D weapon-based game, Sony put major marketing muscle behind Battle Arena Toshinden to compel hardcore gamers to purchase their system over its fierce rival, the Sega Saturn. At the time, Battle Arena Toshinden was a major hit as it won over gamers and helped to sell millions of Playastions acress the US. However, as time went on, Battle Arena Toshinden was ultimately upstaged by its superior predecessors such as Namco's Tekken and Soulblade. Unlike its contemporaries, Battle Arena Toshinden has not aged well and proves itself to be a lackluster fighting game with a limited cast of fighters and moves, mediocre gameplay, sluggish controls, and outdated graphics.
