The Game is Not Enough. I bought this out of personal nostalgia and a desire to revisit my early gaming years on the PS1. It will suffice to say that the game has not aged well. The number of levels (Twelve if I am correct) is not particularly satisfactory for long-play. This is badly balanced by the fact that some levels are ridiculously hard and the final level is nigh-on impossible to complete without suffering death by radiation poisoning (literally). The game follows the film fairly well, with a few added "off camera" scenes for gameplay purposes. Shootouts which did not occur, chases which defy the film's plot at times, and other elements which can be forgiven due to the difficulty of adapting a linear Bond film into game form. The inevitable question; does it measure up well against Goldeneye 64? If I am honest, I never played that legendary title in my formative years, and have not since, so I cannot comment. I enjoyed TWINO quite a lot at the time of play, but if G64's massive content is compared with the simplistic short reaches of this PS1 effort, then there is no contest. Overall, the game is an improvement on the general shortfalls and shoddiness of its predecessor, the very negatively received Tomorrow Never Dies on the same platform. Expect no vehicle levels, no real variety in gameplay and a total lack of multiplayer. One fun element is the fourth level, which taught me the rules and practice of Blackjack whilst I was six years old. Other than this brief gambling-based interlude, the game is fairly straightforward. Run, shoot, get through doors, pick up armour and ammo, reach the end, repeat.Read full review
