It’s bit long, but fun. Seriously, don’t eat a big meal before watching it! Lots of food prep, cooking, & eating. LOL!

I bought this movie because my mother likes to cook, she likes the "Monk" TV Show starring Tony Shaloub, and she heard this movie mentioned on a Food TV Show. The cooking scenes were fun to watch. The story was okay. The actors did a good job. There was drama and comedy to the story. I didn't enjoy the bad language that was said in it. The story is about 2 Italian brothers who are working hard for their restaurant business; one in which was played by Tony Shaloub. There were no profanity in the language translations shown on the screen, which is good so that when this movie is shown on cable TV that not only the profanity of the movie will be cut out but will not be shown in text. The DVD case and the DVD are good quality and the DVD plays very good.
I saw it when it first came out and it is one of the most inventive, beautifully acted movies I have ever seen. And independent. I owned it lost to a loan bought again and this time bought for my brother who is developing into a very good cook. I have watched it alot over the years and brought many other people to it and they all have the same reaction. Very few close-ups. The exquisite last scene in a single take. Ian Holm has never been better. Beautiful women and Tucci and Shalhoub. In the big glut of movies coming out every year this is one I would Oscar over whatever overblown piece won that particular year. And,in a very profound way, it is an American movie. Small, subtle, deft like a European but all American. And it is said to have started the indie movement and kicked Sundance into gear. Buy it, See it.Read full review
Great movie about love and difficulties between two immigrant brothers. Wonderful cast (Tony Shaloob, Isabella Rosalini, Stanley Tucci, Mini Driver) alone worth the view. Have viewed it many times.

Great romantic comedy that features incredible authentic Italian food! The story centers on two Italian brothers, Primo and Segundo who have immigrated to the US (New Jersey) during the 1950’s to start a restaurant business and introduce fine Italian cuisine to the American public. But things don’t start as anticipated and they are outcompeted by another Italian paisan—Pascal, who claims to know and promises to have Louis Prima entertain with his band and eat there (the “Big Night”)—the fun starts there! Great performances and good ensemble cast. A+*****
