About this product

Product Information

'Museum Folkwang: Painting & Sculpture, 19th - 21st Centuries' takes visitors on a chronological tour of the museum's nineteenth-, twentieth-, and twenty-first-century collections, and contains a concise introduction to the museum's history and architectural design To contribute to the improvement of public taste was the stated intention of art collector Karl Ernst Osthaus. The Hagen-born son of a banker, Osthaus assembled a private collection that later became the basis of the Museum Folkwang's remarkable treasure trove of art. Located in Essen, the museum is best known for its distinguished holdings of masterpieces from the era of the avant-garde to the mid-twentieth century. The focus is on the period extending from Paul Cezanne to Max Beckmann, including artists such as Paul Gauguin and Vincent van Gogh; renowned contemporary artists such as Martin Kippenberger and Lothar Baumgarten are also represented in the collection. Sculptures and installations round out this impressive and sensitively designed volume. 208 colour illustrations

Original despatch of the book from Australia was delayed and I had to chase it up when it didn't arrive. The seller apologised and offered a refund but I opted to wait. The missing book was then sturdily packed, speedily despatched, and arrived quickly and in pristine condition so I am happy I waited. Though they got off to a bad start, the seller redeemed themselves and I would buy from them again.

Communication Prior to Buying was Responsive and Quick. However, having been Reassured that My Order would be Delivered by 'Local Postal Service', it Arrived by Private Courier. The Delivery itself took 25 Days to Arrive. Although it was Delivered before the Estimated Delivery Date, Locally Based Orders Shouldn't have to Take So Long to be Delivered. The New Item Arrived in Excellent Condition as Described. A Satisfying Buy at a Great Value Price but CS Advice Should've been More Reliable.
